EURSAX 2017 in Oporto from 11 to 14 July
The European Committee of Saxophone its proud to announce that the next European Congress of Saxophone “Eursax2017” will take place in Porto (Portugal) on dates from 11 to 14 July 2017.
The “Casa da Música” of Porto support the European Congress and offer their facilities to host the organization of the event and also the accompanying groups for soloists will be the “Symphony Orchestra da Casa da Música” and the Portuguese Symphonic Band.

The European Committee saxophone welcomes all European saxophonists, for having managed to institutionalize the activity of the European Saxophone Congress. This allows the possibility of sharing experiences among all European schools saxophone, promote the creation of new music for this instrument and disclose all research undertaken in any section of history, literature, repertoire and technical and industrial evolution of our instrument.
The European Saxophone Congress
The saxophone is an instrument with genuinely European roots
since it was invented by the Belgian Adolphe Sax (1814-1894) in 1840.
To mark the 200th anniversary of Adolphe Sax's birth, the Sax-Ensemble Foundation and the Spanish Saxophonists Association organised the "1st European Saxophone Congress" in Ciudad Real, from 1st to 4th May 2014, as a means of exchange for artistic and pedagogical experiences as well as the promotion and spreading of the European saxophone identity.
The congress had a total participation of 600 saxophonists, several accompanying groups, 25 sponsors and a large audience.
They have also laid the foundation for the following European Congress in the future ..
During the congress closing ceremony, it was agreed to elect a European Committee to decide when the next congress will take place, choosing from the candidacies submitted. The European Saxophone Committee is made up of: Claude Delangle, Arno Bornkamp, Alain Crepin, Lars Mlekusch, Marco Gerboni, Miriam Castellanos, Henrique Portovedo and Francisco Martínez as president.

of the saxophone as a common element of European musical culture, by promoting the exchange of performing and teaching experiences in all the fields developed at the European level.

by stimulating the publication of papers on research around the saxophone and the premières of European authors, which provide an evolution to the saxophone repertoire.
The promotion of the saxophone musical culture
in Europe, as a means to exchange experiences with teachers and artists from other European countries and other Spanish regions.
